Every Thursday The Great Lost Bear Showcases a craft brewery, a style of beer or hosts a battle between rivals. Annual seasonal beer introductions include David Geary's Autumn, Spring and Winter Ales, Allagash Black, and Shipyard's Pumpkinhead and Prelude. Microbreweries that have introduced their beers at the Bear include Allagash, Sheepscot, and Maine Coast Brewing Co.
Beside David Geary, Guest Bartenders have included Ed Stebbins and Richard Pfeffer from Gritty McDuffs, Shipyard's Alan Pugsley, Pete from Pete's Wicked Ale, Garrett Oliver from Brooklyn Brewing, Kai Adams from Sebago Brewing, Andy Hazen from Andrews Brewing, Sam Castiglione from Dogfish Head, Steve Gorrill from Sheepscot Valley, and everyone's favorite Boy Brewer, Rob Tod from Allagash.
Annual Showcase highlights include the Annual Brew Pub Cup (Sebago Brewing Company 2008 cup holder) held in January. The Magic Hat Mardi Gras in February....love those beads! The Industrial Park Challenge (currently held by Allagash Brewing Company) is held every May, and the Salute to the Portland Brewers at the end of June. The Summer Ale Rumble (Casco Bay Brewing 2007) and Christmas in July happen every Summer. Of course we have an Octobearfest at the end of September, Gritty McDuff's Halloween Ale Party in October and the year ends with the Twelve Beers of Christmas in December...... During the Showcase, all Pints are available for $2.50 between 5 and 9 PM and there are lot's and lot's of Brewery and Great Lost Bear Prize Giveaways.
The First Wednesday of each month features THE SHIPYARD ALE SOCIETY with Shipyard Pints available for $2.95 between 5- 7 PM
In addition MAGIC HAT BREWING COMPANY offers #9 (not so pale ale) at the Magically amazing price of $1.99 per Pint for 90 minutes starting at 5:09 PM on the 9th of every month
