Whenever the weather turns cooler, I can’t help but think about good beer. Living in the land where the beer runs clear and tasteless; The Great Lost Bear seams like a vivid dream, it was so real…

Years have past, but still I remember how the fall meant the change of season and the promise of winter beers. Hampshire Ale, Prelude, Allagash Double, has time brought new beers from new brewers? So long age, so long ago…

Someday, I hope and prey, I’ll make it back to the Bear. For now I look into the cold north winds, head held high, eyes squinted searching for the lights and laughter of a far away dream.

I still cherish the times and fun whilst at the glb. I remember the time a drunk driver totaled my vw while I watched the patriots get their asses kicked in 1986. I left to find my car being towed and the cop asking if I'd like a ride home...oh well..I live in colorado now and whenever I get back home I always stop for a brew and to remember the good times that happened there. peace.

We get up to the Portland area 2 or 3 times during the year and always incorporate at least 1 trip to the Bear each time. Love the beers and the food. Have recommended the place to anyone who mentions visiting Maine!

Born and raised in Portland, been to the Bear many times, but only now do I think we can truly appreciate a good microbrew. Having lived in Alaska for the past 7 years, I can safely say that we have had some damn good beers from local breweries. We can't wait til we come back for vaca. in August and see what's new in New England. Wish we could get some of those great beers here!

Came in yesterday and had a great meal! The fish was fresh, the buffalo chicken delicious, and the coffee and beer were very good. The atmosphere was relaxing and there was no wait, no reservations needed on Mother's Day! Took the stress right out of the day. Great family restaurant.
